5 Things You Didn't Know About Vermont
Only In Vermont

Being a very proud Vermonter (when I'm not freezing to death), I know a lot about the more famous people and items that come from Vermont, that out-of-staters don't.

Here is a list of some of the famous people, items and treasures that come out of our Green Mountain State! .

1. Ben and Jerry's!

Everyone loves Ben and Jerry's and if you don't, most have heard of them! The factory is based in Waterbury, Vermont! It was even in a movie featuring Jim Carey called Me, Myself, & Irene. The ice cream can be found all over the country!

2. Phish

In 1983, Phish started playing on the University of Vermont's campus in Burlington, Vermont. They became very popular and soon took off to be a national success too!

3. Twiddle

In 2004, Twiddle debuted on then, Castleton State College's campus. Once again, they became a pretty popular band first in Vermont, and now, they are becoming a national success as well! They are best known for their live concerts.

4. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Stated in Waitsfield, Vermont in 2002, Grace Potter and her band have performed with artists such as Kenny Chesney and The Rolling Stones! Grace has also released some solo stuff. She is most known for her vocals which have been described as being similar to Janis Joplin, Bonnie Rait, and Koko Taylor.

5. President Calvin Coolidge

The only president to be born on the fourth of July. He was sworn in in his father's home in Plymouth, Vermont. He was the 30th president.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
