Fellas, I know that when girls get their period it can be very unpleasing; trust me, we know! But, doing these five simple things for your friend, girlfriend, wife, etc. will make hell week a bit better for them.

1. Patience is key.

Whether we like to admit it or not, we ladies, our emotions can get a little crazy during these dark times. We may get stressed and say some hurtful things. At the time it may not seem like it, but just know deep down, we are still trying to love you. Understand she needs space and she may not want to be around people all the time. She doesn’t hate you, she just needs her space. In four to seven days the gremlin will leave the cave and there will be peace on earth again … Besides, this gives you some alone time an excuse for a night out with the guys!

2. Cuddles

Bring over her favorite movies (yes, you should know what they are, and yes, she wants girly, sappy ones). Close but not too close, positions that may be odd to you are fabulous for her. Cramps hurt (be lucky you don’t have them), so start off with your arm around her, hold her hand; your girl may not want to be fondled! If it is comfortable for her to be cuddled in another way, she will maneuver into that position! Also, those comfy sweat pants of yours she always wears? Bring 'em over, she will love it. Lazy clothes are the best clothes.

3. The little things.

Bring over a heated blanket, a hot drink or a heated water bottle! Anything warm helps aid the pain. If you have a sleepover and some of the blood gets on the sheets, man up and help wash the sheets. Make her feel comfortable; this is natural and she shouldn’t feel ashamed or embarrassed! Pain relief medication will help so, so much. Remember, the less pain she is in, the less stressed you both are. I would say that 's a win win!

4. Foooood.

Chocolate, ice cream, grapes, pickles, cake, pineapple, pizza, iced tea, Captain Crunch ... her cravings will be all over the place, but to start off, find out what her favorite snacks are and bring lots over!

5. Remind her how beautiful she is.

When we are on our period, we feel very fat and self-conscious. Simple compliments, for example, like you love the way her nose wrinkles when she smiles or complimenting her body will make her day (but you shouldn't just save these compliments for this special occasion).

If you do all of the above, you're pretty much golden with that. She'll be grateful she has such a great guy. This may make us seem very needy, but trust me, if you were bleeding for seven days straight (and surviving) then you would want this kind of attention too!

P.S. Good luck!

P.P.S. and if the person working at the McDonald's drive-thru asks if you want a large fry with that order, you say yes.

P.P.P.S. Thank you!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
