Spring break doesn't have to break the bank. While many like to use this time to travel, which is amazing, it can be just as great to stay close to home. Staying back this spring break doesn't have to be boring, however. Here are some ideas to help your spring break at home be fun and exciting:

1. Go Hiking

Whether it be at a state park nearby or just on your town's trails, hiking is a great activity for everyone. It is completely free, good exercise, and an easy way to enjoy the nice weather outdoors! You could go by yourself for some much-needed alone time or go with a group to catch up with old friends.

2. Go To A New Restaurant Or Coffee Shop

Every town has some restaurant, coffee shop, or cafe that you've been meaning to go to for months but just haven't had the time or motivation to visit. Spring break is the pefect time to try something new, so go out of your comfort zone and go to a place that you normally wouldn't eat at: maybe try a different culture's food or try a new drink you haven't ordered since you love your regular latte so much.

3. Visit The Zoo, Aquarium, Or Museum

Most major cities have at least one zoo, aquarium, or museum. Visiting one of these places could be an entire day trip, and typically aren't too expensive. It's the perfect place to go for a relaxing and short get away, and who doesn't love to see the baby animals?

4. Read A Book

Often, during the school and work week there isn't enough time to take a step back and dive into a book. Spring break is the oportune time to head over to the local library or bookstore, pick out an interesting book, and sink into the story.

5. Camp Locally

If you want to get away and travel this break but can't, camping is an amazing solution. Grab a tent, some food, and a sleeping bag and head out to a local campground for a mini-vacation. Camping allows you to leave the house and spend a few days with friends and explore the great outdoors.

Even though you may not be able to travel far away this year, don't let that get you down. There are plenty of activities and places to go in your local area, and hopefully you can find something to try this break!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
