Five Things That Won't Matter Later

A lot of the time, we as a society focus on the here and now. It is good to live in the present, but we worry about trivial things that will not amount to anything important in the future. We worry if our outfit is cute enough. If we're prettier than the girl next to us. If the guy we're dating is good looking enough. If we'll seem cool if we choose to go out rather than study for a test. If we're doing the "popular" thing, and so many other unimportant questions.

I've learned, that in life, there are going to be A LOT of things that do not go the way I want them to. I've learned that I am not always going to be the prettiest one or the most popular... and guess what? That is perfectly okay. I'll be the first to tell you that there are multiple things in our present lives that will not matter to us or better us in the future.

1. Appearances

How many times have you heard that looks do not matter? Probably too many. However, this statement is so true, despite the cliche. The person on the inside is what matters most. A kind heart is enough to make anyone beautiful. Trust me, 50 years from now when we all have grey hair and wrinkles, no one is going to care about looks. The inside is all that will truly matter.


2. Partying

Okay, so you took 19749871987498 shots at that party last weekend and ended up in the hospital with alcohol poisoning... wow OMG, so cool!!!! Not. I completely agree with making good memories and having fun, especially in college. However, there has to be a limit. Making poor decisions due to partying and "having a good time" is not worth having more problems in the future.


3. Being "popular"

Doing the "cool" thing usually isn't all that cool. Being "popular" isn't something that is necessary. In the future, your salvation will matter. It won't matter if you did the "popular" thing. What will really matter is if you did the right thing.

4. Boys

Maybe you've been with several boys that broke your heart, or maybe you keep going back to the same boy that breaks your heart over and over again... whatever the situation is, they aren't worth your time. They aren't worth your effort or feelings. Someday you will meet the man of your dreams, and all of the boys from the past will not matter one bit.


5. Drama

Anyone that brings drama into your life probably is not going to matter to you later. Those that choose to be in your life will stick around no matter what. They will go through everything with you. They will always be on your side. Those that bring constant problems and drama are better off left behind. Be happy and drama free, you'll thank yourself later.
