Growing up the youngest of 3, being the only girl in my immediate family and the only granddaughter on my mom's side, I often would wish I had older sisters instead of older brothers, or at least a cousin that was a girl, and if I was feeling greedy, I'd wish I had a cousin that was a girl AND my age. My entire life I've been surrounded by boys, and looking back, I wouldn't have it any other way. There are many things I'd like to say to my brothers but the most important of those is thank you.
1. Thank you for growing up with me.
Although you really had no choice in this, I want to thank you for always sticking by side and never disowning me as your little sister, no matter how annoying and bratty I was. I couldn't imagine not having you by my side every step of the way to go through the ups and downs together, because I sure as hell couldn't have gone through them alone.
2. Thank you for making me laugh.
Whether I'm sad, mad, or just not in a good mood, there is no one that can make me laugh as hard as my brother's can. From Will Ferrell to Jim Carrey impressions, our family is always kept entertained with what they can come up with. Not to mention all of the inside jokes that no one but our family understands. Laughing so hard tears start to form in your eyes in the middle of a restaurant is a regular occurrence in our family and we're not embarrassed. I guess you just had to be there.
3. Thank you for not judging me.
One of the best things about having siblings is that they're the few people who you can be your complete self around. From all the tears, weird outfits and bed head, my brothers have never judged me. Waking up on a Saturday morning and not feeling the need to brush my hair or change out of my Ninja Turtle pajama pants before walking downstairs is something I will never take for granted.
4. Thank you for protecting me.
Even though they never wanted to admit it, I know they have always and will always care about me. I know that we don't see each other as much anymore now that we all don't live in the same house, and our main form of communication is texting, but the texts asking how I'm doing or making sure I'm not being a stupid college kid go a long way. Thank you for looking out for me and always saying you're going to beat up any boy that hurts me, even if the interrogation can get annoying.
5. Thank you for being my absolute best friends.
Above all of the fighting, no matter how far away we are from each other, I can always count on my brothers to drop everything and be there for me if I need them to. Through the years of many different friends, my brothers have been a constant best friend in my life and I can't thank them enough for always being in my corner.
