College. There is so much that comes with that little word. College can be some of the best four years of our lives, but it isn't all fun and games. Being a college student means waking up for your 8 a.m. when you really just want to sleep in. It means studying your butt off into the late hours of the night, and still not getting the grade you wanted. It's going to the library to get ahead on work when you'd way rather be cuddled up watching Netflix in your bed. It's missing home and your family, but not being able to see them for weeks or even months. Being a college student is a full-time, stressful job.
Even though, at some points, it may seem that you have reached your limit and the stress is overwhelming, I am here to remind you that everything is going to be OK. Here's just a few things that I remind myself of when it feels like the end of the world (I promise it's not).
1. "Sometimes you need to step outside and get some fresh air, so you can remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be."
When things become so overwhelming that you can feel yourself start to freak out, take a break. Put down the books and go for a drive. Take some time for yourself. Pushing yourself over your breaking point won't help in the end.
2. "You are capable. Prove it."
We can tend to doubt ourselves a little bit when things get hard. Prove to yourself that you can do it.
3. "It will all be worth it in the end."
Through the long nights and stress filled days, remind yourself that you are working towards your future. All of the mental breakdowns and stress will be worth it. This is by far one of the most important statements I remind myself of.
4. "You only fail when you stop trying."
Don't give up. Giving up is one of the worst things you can do. Is math giving you a hard time and you can't stand to look at the problems for one more second? Keep trying. Failure will only occur if you don't try, so don't let it get to that point.
5. "Believe in yourself."
You should be your number one support system. Don't rely on others to make you happy. When your feeling stressed, remind yourself that everything will be OK and you will be victorious in the end.
