7 Things To Remember When Finals Are Over

7 Things To Remember When Finals Are Over
Pintrest

Ah, finals. The most bittersweet part of a college student's semester. You might be thinking what's so sweet about finals? Well, the sweet part is getting a three-month summer break when they're over with. Coming home on break is the best part of being a college student! As students are coming home on break, here are some things to remember!

1. Work, work, and work!

Sadly, no, I am not talking about Rhianna's new hit song, "Work." I mean work, as in getting a summer job! Summer jobs are exceptionally important as college students make their way home. Getting a summer job is a great idea, because when you return back to college for your next semester, you won't be the stereotypical broke college student. If you don't have a summer job, I highly recommend that you get one!

2. Hang out with your family.

They have missed you dearly. Sometimes, as college students, we put our family in the back of our minds because we are so busy doing our college things. There is nothing wrong with spending time with them. Go out to dinner a couple nights while you're home, have a family movie nights, do something fun and appreciate them, because in the end, family before everything.

3. Hang out with your home friends.

It is such a good feeling when you get the old gang back together to hang out. We all have new college friends who we love very much, but sometimes it's great getting back together with your homies. Don't forget to hang out and catch up by telling college stories, watching a movie, and eating way too much.

4. Shut off your alarms and reminders.

Everybody has been in a situation where they're out somewhere and somebody's obnoxious beeping alarm goes off for some dumb reason. Don't be that person. Remember you are home for break! You no longer need to keep your morning alarms on to wake up for class. You don't have to be reminded to do a weekly extracurricular activity. Just enjoy your summer break alarm free! (Unless you have work, of course.)

5. Don't have that end of year bonfire where you burn everything important.

Having that famous end of year bonfire used to be what I looked forward to most at the end the year. In college, Do not burn anything in that end of year bonfire. As tempting as it may be, and as much as you hated the class, don't do it! You will always need to look back on previous classes and class work. Having one piece of paper gone can hurt your future tests, and put a damper on your grade, just don't do it.

6. Three months really isn't that long.

Three whole months of summer vacation that will fly by. Three months might sound like a long time, but in all reality, it's not that long.

7. Make the best of summer.

Three months might not be that long, but make the best out of those three months. Have a summer job, but don't overwork yourself. Have the time of your life with family and friends. Shut those alarms off. Live your life, adventure, take chances, make memories, but most importantly, relax!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
