5 Things My Future Little(s) Should Know

In the middle of my little mess, I forget how big I'm blessed.

With big/little reveal approaching next week, I have been crafting, planning surprises, and trying my hardest not to spoil the secret of who I am to you. Amidst all of the preparation, I’ve found myself subconsciously thinking of ways to be an awesome big sister to you. So here is a condensed list of what you should expect after reveal!

1) I’ll be your best friend.

When you need a shoulder to cry on, someone to help you study or just a laughing session… I’ll be there. You won’t have to wonder whether or not I like you because I’m pretty much obsessed with you, just not in the creepy way. When you need to drink wine and watch cheesy rom-coms, I’m just a text/call/Snapchat away.

2) You’ll never have to do life alone.

Let’s be honest, college is not easy by any standards. Add work, social expectations, and getting enough sleep in the mix and it gets challenging. When you need to fall apart, I’ll be there to reassure you that the Sun will still come up tomorrow morning, and everything will be okay. My life is a hot mess so maybe I’ll make yours look less stressful by comparison.

3) Our stack will be on point.

My big is super funny and sassy, just like you and me! I already know that you all will get along, and I can’t wait to make my big a granny. Eventually you will take your own little, and you’ll understand why reveal is so important to us. Bonding with another sister so quickly doesn’t come naturally for everyone; we were blessed with having the same personality and love for food.

4) I don’t expect you to be perfect.

Even though I definitely think you’re perfect and wonderful, I realize that we’re all humans. Sometimes we mess up, and that’s okay. I promise I don’t have it all together, so we’ll just figure it out together. But you can bet that I’ll be the first person to tell you to study instead of go out when your grades are slipping, or the one to tell you if that dress makes you look fat. I’m sure you know that it’s all done in love.

5) You aren’t getting rid of me anytime soon.

Even when we’re both graduated, you’ll still be my lil sis. I swear I’m not going to suffocate you, because I can’t stand being clingy in the first place. But for the little time we’ve known each other, I have truly started to see you as a sister. If someone hurts you, I’ll want to hurt them back. When you’re having the best day ever, I’ll be right there to celebrate.

No matter what happens during our college adventure, you have someone who you can always count on. I knew you would be my little from the first week, and I am so excited to tell you who I am. I always hear girls say that they have the best big, and I’m going to try my hardest to do the same for you. Love you, lil sis!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
