When fall break rolls around, it’s finally time to leave campus behind and go home for some relaxation after a stressful week of midterms. You bid so long to your friends and roommates and head to the train station, only to find out that your train is an hour late. But all is still well with the world because you know when you get home you’ll have good food, puppies (hopefully…if you don’t have a dog, I highly suggest getting one), parents, and siblings who are so excited to see you! We all love to be independent and lead our own lives at school, but there are still a ton of things we love about being home, and, let’s be honest, it’s nice to be able to be a little dependent on our moms again for a week. Here are the things we all look forward to coming home to:
- PUPPIES, PUPPIES, and more PUPPIES
As excited as you are to see the rest of your family, there’s nothing like being greeted by your favorite canine friends. They’re really the ones you’ve been away from the longest because, try as you might, you can’t talk to them on the phone like you can talk to the rest of your family, and everyone knows the kisses and furry cuddles to follow can’t be matched.
2. Mom and Dad
We all love our independence at school, but still love coming home to our moms and dads. They’re our favorite people in the world and we can’t wait to get home to hug them and tell them how much we’ve missed them while we’ve been away. Talking on the phone is great, but the chance to finally see them is something we couldn’t be more excited for.
3. The Siblings
We annoy each other to the ends of the earth, but at the end of the day we love and miss each other, even if it will forever remain an unspoken understanding.
4. A Home-Cooked Meal
We spend all semester trying to convince ourselves that the food in the dining hall is good, and we really have nothing to complain about. We all know it isn’t true though, and the first chance we get to finally have a good, home-cooked meal, we might eat the whole thing ourselves and not leave enough for the rest of the family.
5. Sleep
Midterms left us all feeling some time of way, and that way is probably sleep-deprived and/or with an unhealthy amount of caffeine running through our veins to fight that sleep deprivation. Our bed will be our sanctuary this break.
After midterms, this week is
well deserved, so everyone make sure to get that much needed rest and
relaxation by sleeping until the late hours of the afternoon, and enjoy the
time you have with your families. Hopefully, you’ll even get the chance to fit
in some kind of cute fall activity, like apple picking or pumpkin picking. Oh,
and don’t forget to cuddle with those puppies!!
