Working in a movie theater for the past 5 years has brought me both heart ache and happiness. Here are five things a movie theater employee hears on the daily.
1. "Two tickets to *insert movie title here*"
Oh, no hello, good afternoon, please, anything?? Great way to start off this little interaction. Can't wait for the rest of it. Honestly I would even take a head nod, or even a SMILE. I took the time to ask you how you were, maybe because I have to, but I still did, so please just say it back even if you don't mean it.
2. "Is this popcorn fresh? Can you just make me a fresh batch?"

To tell ya the truth. This could go either way. The popcorn in that bin could have been made 10 minutes ago, or an hour ago, who knows. But certainly, let me just step away from this ten person long line, and take twenty minutes to heat up the popper and make you a fresh batch. My manager would absolutely LOVE THAT.
3. "It's stupid that if I buy their tickets they can't see an R rated movie. I'm their mom I give them permission."
LOL right my bad. You give them permission to go see Bad Santa when they are only seven years old. That's totally fine, don't get me wrong. I'm all for allowing your children to see whatever they want as long as you don't care. But I just can't. I can't break a state law because you said it's stupid. Sorry, I don't feel like losing my job.
4. "Just wanted to let you know someone spilled a large drink all over the floor in theater. It wasn't me though."
1. It was probably you. 2. I know you probably spilled it in the beginning of the movie and waited until the end to tell me on your way out. Just call me mop girl.
5."Why is water five dollars? And popcorn is nine? Might as well take out a second mortgage."
Please stop. I don't personally make the prices here just to give you a heart attack about how much it costs. I FEEL YOU. These prices are insane. I wouldn't pay them if I didn't get an employee discount. But I promise it will be okay.
Working in a movie theater isn't all bad though. There certainly are perks. Free movies, food, and to be honest I'll probably never stop working at one because it's overall such a great job. So when you come in, just don't be like these people.
