College campuses can be some of the most beautiful places on Earth: historic buildings, big open green spaces, people outside enjoying their school, all laid out with careful consideration. But that is not to say they are perfect. Even the most incredible college campus is missing a few things that would really elevate them to another level of awesomeness.
1. Moving walkways
Class starts in five minutes but your classroom is over on the other end of campus and you took a couple extra minutes in the shower so you to make a run for it, lugging your books around, or just bite the bullet and be late. Neither option is ideal. That's why campuses could use moving walkways. Love 'em or hate 'em, they are a great way to gain some speed. Late classes would be a thing of the past.
2. Heated pavement
You know, those things people can lay out in their driveway to keep snow from piling up? What if you implemented that on a campus-wide scale, and turned them on at all times extra high. It would make the grueling walk from one end of campus to the other on those cold late fall and early spring semester days a lot more bearable, and maybe even enjoyable.
3. Massage chairs
Library chairs are generally pretty comfortable, for the first hour or so of studying. But when you are pulling an all-nighter, trying to catch up on weeks of reading all in one night, your butt gets numb and your back and shoulders start to hurt. It would be nice to have the option to get a little muscular relief for those long nights of being hunched over books.
4. Starbucks vending machines
No, not like regular vending machines that have pre-bottled drinks in them. Vending machines like Coca-Cola Freestyle Machines. You know, you walk up to a giant touch screen, pick your favorite drink out of hundreds of options and out it comes. Everyone on a college campus needs a pick-me-up every now and then, but not everyone has the time for insane Starbucks lines. Put a couple hundred of these machines around, and there you go -- easy caffeine access.
5. Phone charging stations
At least once a week that my phone dies on me and there is nothing I can do about it because I have another class in 50 minutes. But a few little stands with outlets in them scattered all over the place would solve the rampant problem of instant phone death.
And so there you have it. College campuses nationwide -- take note.
