Cristina Yang is one of the most crucial characters on the hit television show, Grey's Anatomy. She is a bold, self-dependent woman that has so much to offer not only the show, but also its viewers. For the young women who watch the show, there are many lessons that she has taught all of us.

1. How to channel our inner selves.

She taught us not to let other people get in our way to success and to be all that we can be.

2. How to be confident.

She taught us not to let others tell us if they think we look good, but to make it known that we already know how good we look and to flaunt it.

3.To have our priorities straight.

She has taught us to keep our heads on straight, even if it is just about food.

4. Not to let boys define our lives.

She taught us that we are more than just what relationships define us as and to never let a boy dull our shine.

5. Not to settle.

She taught us that we should never settle in life and to always push ourselves past our goals so that we can the best possible versions of ourselves.

There are so many lessons to be learned from Cristina Yang. She has broken so many social norms that have been set by our society and that is something we can all take from her. Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
