5 Things College has taught me about Myself

We have all had these moments

So I have been in college for 3 years now, currently in my Senior year. Every day I promise you is a learning experience that I am never prepared for. Learning and growing is always the key to success so I take my downfalls very well. As a college student, I'm sure some of you can relate to my struggles. I love when you can because it makes me feel like I'm not alone. If you have these same attributes let's bond on them. There is strength in numbers.

1) I am a weird introvert, extrovert, Type A person

I am a creature of habit. I truly do not like surprises during the college day. I really am on the move and I don't have to time to play. Now that I have described 75% of me let's talk about this other 25. This smaller section is me wanting to be in the mix and out and about. Sometimes I want to be sitting in the dome with my other colleagues and people watching. It all depends on the day and whether it's hot outside.

2) I Hate slow walkers with a true passion

When I'm on the way to class in an 11000-degree heat, I would like not to get there in head to toe sweat. I walk like I drive, The sidewalks are mine and if you are going to slow I will pass you and not feel bad. I truly dislike the people who walk slowly around classroom areas and know people are rushing. This sounds kind of self-absorbed but I guarantee you I can find a college student everywhere that feels the same way.

3) I refuse to pay for a class and be quiet the whole time.

Do you actually look at the bill that gets issued for a college education? This increasing pain in my butt is for me to take my classes and be engaged in them. I understand if you're more on the shy side because speaking in class is a lot. But if you come to class and just sit there on your phone BE ASHAMED!! Your paying average 100 dollars per class session and you don't pay attention? You have to be kidding me!! I speak even when I don't feel my answer is correct. If is a little intimidating but at the same time me asking questions and speaking shows on my test grade.

4) I am quite Critical about myself still but its improving.

Going along with talking in class I can still be timid about it. I have this business law class where I feel like I never say anything correct. The crazy part is I'm the main talker so it goes half and half. I feel stupid when talking BUT at least I am speaking. Sometimes we let our fears stop us from excelling to a better person. I probably will have the smartest comments for the class come next month.

5) My freshmen 15 turned into a 50 and I'm just trying to make it at this point.

I wish you could see my face every time I see freshmen twitting they are going to stay in the gym. I realized life takes over and food becomes comfort while studying. I am working to lose the weight but its has its hard moments. I balance multi-blogs, 18 credit hours, and a 40+ hour job. Eating and sleeping is the only thing I want to do in my spare time.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
