1. Blue Masking Tape

This will become your new best friend as a resident assistant. Blue masking tape is the No. 1 item used to get things stuck to walls, with no permanent damage done to the wall after it is taken off. RAs go through this tape like crazy, using multiple rolls each semester. This comes in handy when hanging up flyers, door tags, memos, et cetera and is typically the only item allowed on the walls. Make sure to bring a couple of rolls with you when you move back into college.

2. Dry Erase Markers and Pens

These will be the two most important writing utensils that you need to carry around with you. Typically, as an RA, you will need dry erase markers while on duty to mark down the duty board. All this board does is state which RA is on duty for the night. Dry erase markers tend to disappear quickly among staff, so make sure to have a few of your own. Pens are also extremely important, since you are always writing things down. Whether that be notes taken about duty, or a resident's concern with their roommate, pens will be needed on a daily basis.

3. Landline Phone

This one may sound bizarre because who really uses landline phones anymore, but they are definitely necessary for the job. You are technically a worker for the university, and most workers have a landline that they can be reached at within their office. Your room at school then becomes like your office, and a landline suitably belongs in there. This can now be used if anyone on campus needs to reach you, and they do not have your personal phone number.

4. Craft Supplies

There are plenty of times where you need to get crafty as an RA. Most schools have a resource room for RAs to get items like construction paper and markers, but it never hurts to have your own. You will typically need to make door tags for every resident, along with a bulletin board for your hallway, and many other crafting jobs are created for you to do. Therefore, keep those supplies handy as you will be using them quite often.

5. Tissues

Often, as an RA, you are going to have to deal with emotional residents. Whether they are homesick, are having a roommate conflict, or something tragic has just happened, it is important to keep tissues around. As you try to console them and combat the issue, having a nice, soft tissue to give them is helpful.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
