An extrovert and introvert are two very different types of individuals. The way each person utilizes their energy in social environments is completely opposite. Extroverts need to constantly socialize in order to keep their sense of sanity, while for introverts – like me – socializing is an extremely draining activity. We need time by ourselves in order to gain that energy back. So, as you can imagine, living with four extroverts is quite the challenge.
1. It's almost impossible to be alone.
I'm always walking into the house trying to dodge them until I can make it to the safety of my own room, but they always seem to find me.
2. You have to follow through with plans.
I hate making plans in advance because I never know how I'm going to feel when the time actually comes. When it does I'm usually thinking, "Uh... is it too late to say no?"
3. You miss out on some fun times.
Sometimes – maybe even most of the time – I'd rather stay home and watch Netflix by myself while they'd prefer to rage at the bar. It's easy for me to miss out on some pretty great stories.
4. Your social outbursts are a tease.
There are times when all I want to do is go out and party the night away with my roomies. They've learned to embrace these times because they never know how long they'll last. Being introverted is a bit of a roller coaster ride.
5. They just don't understand.
Harassing me until I have no choice but to hang out with them has become one of their strong suits. They can't comprehend how someone could find joy in being alone. For them it's not possible; but for me, it's the freakin' time of my life!
