Summer is here and we can't wait to flock to the shore and to have a fun time at home. But that doesn't change that being at home means being away from college. Inevitably you end up missing everything that school has to offer and of course your closest circle of frineds!
Stage One:
Getting home and thinking to yourself that you couldn't be happier to not be in class and to be sitting on your couch. You have not a worry in your mind that this will be the best summer you've ever had, and going back to your college life is so far away and you couldn't be happier about it.
You reconnect with your home friends, and talk about the amazing past year you all had. Although you have only been at home for a short time, you still keep in contact with your college friends through Snapchat.
Stage 2:
You start working at home again and its nice to have something to do during the day then to watch TV, plus the money doesn't hurt. You work long shifts and think that at least this is better than writing a 10-page paper the night before at school and you cling to the feeling that at least you get paid for this work.
You love the friends that you have kept from high school, but it takes awhile to explain who all the characters are in your stories so its hard for them to understand all of you crazy adventures that you had for the past six months like your crew at school. So, you resort to texting and reminding them that you are still there and ask them if they "remember that one time" and make them promise that you will see each other soon.
Stage 3:
You start getting back into your normal routine and realize how bored you are. There are no parties, no friends, no freedom. You sit in your house and think that this summer is going to take forever. You hold on to sanity by reminding yourself that when you get back in the fall there will be the stress of your school work, and you keep grounded.
You still hang out with your home friends, but you miss your school friends like crazy. You think of all your adventures and wonder what they are doing with their summers. You start to call them and talk to them on the phone to reconnect and to go on and on about how much you miss them and how you are going to visit.
Stage 4:
You love your family but they are starting to drive you crazy. You go on vacations, spend time with them, and annoy the hell out of each other. You wish that you could be back at school so you could remember what it feels like to actually miss them and you begin to count down the days till move-in.
You have been growing crazy without any contact with your friends. You resort to Facetiming them and telling them all about your summer job and your family and they listen to every detail. Seeing their face is a reminder that you will see them soon.
Stage 5:
The day is here: move-in! You cruise on the way back to school and get excited that you will be back at your home soon enough!
You get to see your friends again and you talk about how much school sucks and all the fun you are about to have.
