5 Songs That Will Never Get Old
Psychologies

Everyone tends to have a favorite song or, at least in my case, multiple favorite songs! We listen to them over and over again until we get sick of them, and then we just listen to them again. We might try to change it up by putting our music on shuffle -- but sometimes that doesn't work. I know I have put my playlist on shuffle and skipped every song until I landed on that one I was hooked on. At least I tried to listen to some new music! While we all have our favorites, there are also those songs that you just can't skip over or pass by. Whether it's a one-hit wonder or the song that started it all for its artist, here are five songs that will never get old.

1. Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

Maybe you know absolutely nothing about who Kurt Cobain is, and you're pretty sure Nirvana has something to do with Hinduism and Buddhism. Well, while the concept of nirvana is a part of those religions, it is also the name of a band that became popular in the '90s. The group was formed by lead singer Kurt Cobain and bassist Kris Novoselic. The band was already pretty popular before the release of "Smells Like Teen Spirit," but Nirvana's success soared with the song's release in September 1991. I'm sure most people have heard this song -- the opening guitar notes, the addition of the drum, the hellos and the lyrics, which most people tend to mumble. If you are part of the group that hasn't heard of "Smells Like Teen Spirit," check it out.

2. "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas

Most people know of the Black Eyed Peas -- if not for their music, then at least because of pop culture references. The group's members include Will.I.Am, Apl.De.Ap, Taboo and singer Fergie, and I am sure you have heard some of their names before (who doesn't know the Ferg?). The group has had a few top singles in their history, but none quite as memorable as "I Gotta Feeling." Nominated for song of the year in 2009 and hitting No. 1 on 20 Top 100 Billboards worldwide, it's fair to say that this song is unforgettable.

3. "Smooth" by Santana featuring Rob Thomas

With its smooth rhythms, catchy chorus and cool vocals, it's not surprising that this song was No. 1 on the Hot 100 hit list of the 1990's. It kept momentum up and only dropped one spot, sitting at No. 2 on the Hot 100 list for the 20th century. Quite the accomplishment!

4. LeeAnn Rime's "How Do I Live"

Many people are surprised to find out that "How Do I Live" was actually recorded by more than one artist. I was certainly surprised! Nevertheless, it's true. The song was originally written for a film called "Con Air." The producers preferred Trisha Yearwood's voice for the film version, but both of the artists' singles were released. And while both songs topped charts -- a testament to the skills of songwriter Diane Warren -- LeeAnn Rimes's cover of the song is the one that stands the test of time.

5. "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen

I must admit that I put off listening to this song for years just because it was so popular and so many people knew it. If you're like that too, please listen to this song and revel in its amazingness -- and then get sucked into the vocal vortex that is music by Queen. No one can deny that Bohemian Rhapsody is only one of many fantastic songs released by Queen!

There's no way I can cover all the timeless songs that are out there, so please comment with the songs you think will never get old.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
