5 Songs That Are Great To Listen To When You Just Need To Cry
ArcLight Stories - "Love & Mercy" with director Bill Pohlad (Youtube)

Have you ever been sitting in your room and just need a good cry? Are you single as a pringle and wish that you were in love? Well I know the exact playlist that is sure to get those water works starting.

1. "Can't Help Falling In Love With You"- Elvis Presley

This tear jerker is a timeless classic that all generations can relate to. From his deep and smooth voice to the gentle pluck of the ukulele you are bound to shed a tear thinking about that one you love, or the one that you can't help falling for over and over again.

2. "Can I Have This Dance"- High School Musical's, Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron

Talking about generations, this is one that most of my generation knows every word to. Listening to this song reminds me of the romantic scene where Troy and Gabriella are dancing in the rain and the true love they share. When listening to the lyrics you can hear them say things like "It's like catching lightning, the chances of finding, Someone like you, It's one in a million, the chances of feeling, The way we do". They are saying that their love is so real and passionate that a love like there's could never exist and they've found their soulmates. You'll definitely want to grab some tissues as you lay in bed wishing you had that kind of love with a significant other.

3. "All I Ask"- Adele

This particular song actually talks about how if it is her last night with her lover then she wants something to be able to remember him in these last times she has with him. We all wish we could go back and have one last good moment with the person that dumped us. The raw and evocative emotion that comes from Adele's voice is incredible. The way she gradually builds up throughout the whole song and then brings everything back to the soft gentle tones at the end really makes you feel like she is begging for her lover and then finally lets him go. It feels almost as if you are going through this awful painful experience with her.

4. "More of You"- Chris Stapleton

Even the toughest cowboys will shed a tear on this country tune. Mr. Stapleton is talking about how everything that his lover does and all the memories that they have shared makes him want more of them. This song can make you think about how you yearn to have a relationship with someone that will treat you right and think of you as highly as he does his lover.

5. "City of Stars"- La La Land Original Soundtrack, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling

Last but not least, the big screen classic that has won several Academy Awards. This song is about how we are all just looking for love in this world. Somebody to love and somebody who loves us. I love the realistic vibe of the song and the laughter we hear by the two in the song and the overall genuine feel of the music and the lyrics. Everyone can relate to wanting somebody to love and this song will remind you of those feelings.

In conclusion, a good cry is healthy for everyone every once in a while. So jump on Spotify, plug in those headphones, and listen to these anthems for the heart.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
