Bring it on spring 2017!

Being on hiatus from school for three weeks we can't deny that we're missing the day to day action of being a college student. I won't deny it! The signs were relevant as soon as Christmas came and went. Here are some signs you're going through school withdrawal:

1. Counting Down The Days.

During school days, I couldn't wait for winter break to put in its annual appearance. This meant a little over three weeks off from homework, writing papers, tests, and final exams. At the end of the semester, I couldn't help missing the hecticness of the school days. Only three weeks left, I told myself, and then it'll start all over.

2. Sleeping-In Isn't Such A Big Deal.

Maybe I'm in denial, but sleep hasn't been high on my to-do list since finishing the semester. Don't get me wrong; I love sleep. But who doesn't, right?! I have been pulling many late nights, but my internal clock is so used to my school schedule, my conscience forbids me to waste my free days sleeping them away.

3. Missing Friends.

I have made many good friends at school, and though we keep in touch via Facebook, it just isn't the same as seeing and conversing in person. Feels like we've been apart for three months, not three weeks!

4. Making Spring/Summer Plans.

I do the winter season an injustice mentioning spring and summer. But I can't help thinking and planning ahead to those warm days when school will be nearing its end, and making way for summer fun. Stephens College offers many fun spring activities, so that definitely has me excited, too.

5. Keeping Busy.

As much as I love my breaks, I can't help feeling a little bored as soon as I'm left waiting for school to start again. I've read four books over the course of three weeks, rearranged my entire room, did house cleaning, and caught up on TV shows. There is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying the time away from reality. But for me, I am so accustomed to working daily, so when I do have a break I feel as though I need to be doing something. I guess this comes from working for over ten years.

I am excited to kickstart another year at college and be challenged academically. I know it's going to be a great year!

Thanks for reading! :)

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
