5 Signs I Know I Made The Right College Decision
Start Class

Only being a college freshman, the days of severe anxiety after I made my college decision that stayed with me up to Welcome Weekend are still ingrained in my mind. The hours of lying in bed staring at the ceiling and at my newly bought t-shirt boldly announcing my choice, wondering if I made the right decision. Everyone always told me that when I toured the "right" college, I would have this "Cinderella Moment" and I would just know it was "The One." Well, I toured several schools and never had that feeling. Looking back now, however, I can tell you that the shoe definitely fits and it's a lot more comfortable than a glass one.

Below you'll find the reasons why I know I've found the right "Prince Charming," and why our love is a forever one.

1. I walk around campus regardless of the weather, regardless of my current workload, and am in awe of its beauty. I am thankful every day that I am here (and I don't even need a filter).

2. The people here are my kind of people. When I came home for Christmas break, I struggled to explain the people I have met here. I realized that I had literally zero bad things to say about anyone, because even the people I had personality conflicts with had always been nice to me.

3. I never have to open the door. Everywhere I go, a kind stranger walking in ahead of me will hold the door. It doesn't matter if I'm a foot behind them smelling their cologne, or 10 feet away admiring their hair. Talk about the princess life.

4. I can eat whatever I want whenever I want. Even if I get sick of the dining hall, there are so many places around campus that I love (that I don't have to spend my own money on! Yay!).

5. I know. You're thinking, isn't college about learning? Sure. The professors here are fantastic. They actually care about their students beyond the classroom. I walk into all of my classes and receive a personal greeting. It is easy to go to office hours. And when I do, I typically leave feeling not only better about the class, but about life.

BONUS: Mostly everyone here has very similar ideals. We all worked hard to get here. We are all striving toward the utmost success. Every day each of us tries to be a good person and good friend. We all study hard but still take breaks to go to events on campus. We laugh more than we cry. We love each other and our college. Every day my peers push me to be more than I was the day before.

Choosing a college can be a practically impossible task. But, if you choose wisely, if you follow your heart and your mind, you'll make the right choice. So happy to be a rising sophomore who made the right choice my senior year of high school.

Love Thee ND.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
