I know I'm not the only one who loves to ignore their responsibilities. It's so much easier watching TV instead. But if you're stuck on which show to watch next (one that hasn't ended yet), check out this expert list. You can't go wrong with any of the following:
1. "Sherlock"
"Sherlock" follows the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson in the 21st century. The writers use the original stories for episodes but add their own twist to them. In this rendition we see the formation of John and Sherlock’s friendship and business in the first season, and watch it grow over the next two. Along with the fascinating mysteries, the show’s characters are complex and interesting. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s super easy to catch up on. There are three seasons with only three episodes per season and one special. The new season airs on January 1.
2. "Transparent"
"Transparent" follows the life of an elderly father of three who comes out to their family as being transgender. Maura, the transgender lead character, goes through the struggles we often hear transgender men and women face, like not being able to use the bathroom they are comfortable in. She also faces more complex issues like figuring out her sexual identity and the decision of whether or not to have gender conformation surgery. The show is only in it’s third season, which was just released and is a joy to binge-watch. You can find it on Amazon Prime!
3. "How to Get Away With Murder"
If you aren’t already watching this, you need to be! "How to Get Away With Murder" follows Annalise Keating, her two employees and the five law students she selects to work for her. Together they all get into some serious trouble but Annalise always attempts to protect them. The show is incredibly well written and always keeps the viewer guessing. The third season is airing now, so no better time to catch up!
4. "Bob's Burgers"
Currently, my favorite animated television series "Bob’s Burgers" is one of the most well written comedy programs around. The show follows Bob, his wife and their three children running a fast food restaurant and having everything go wrong. The side characters include a handy-man and mortician who are always eating there, the filthy rich landlord with an eye patch and the health inspector always looking to shut down the business because he's in love with Bob’s wife. Every character has hysterical lines and you will definitely be able to find a favorite. This show is on Netflix, Fox and Hulu so make sure to get in a few episodes when you can.
5. "The Goldbergs"
Last but certainly not least. "The Goldbergs" is one of my favorite sitcoms to date. When you watch it, you feel like you’re watching videos of your own family. "The Goldbergs" is narrated by Adam Goldberg (not actually his voice) as he looks back on growing up in Philadelphia in the 1980s with a popular older sister, loser older brother, smothering mother, lazy father and supportive grandfather. The actual Adam loved filming his family growing up, and the stories he remembered and filmed have become full episodes and plot lines for the show. Check out any episode of this show and you won’t be disappointed.
So if you get a chance when you should be doing homework or studying, or are looking for a way to relax after an exciting Halloweekend, check out some of these!
