Rupi Kaur has recently become one of my favorite writers.
Her book titled "Milk and Honey" is a self-published collection of not only poetry, but artwork as well. Divided into 4 sections-the hurting, the living, the breaking, and the healing-this book chronicles the intense emotions of an individual going through a painful heartbreak.
I have selected five poems from this book that had a profound effect on me; I feel as though every female can draw inspiration from Rupi Kaur's words.
1. "A pit stop for men"
I'm sure that almost every girl has felt this way at one point in her life. Kaur's ability to put such a painful situation into words is simply flawless.
2. "Anything less than whole"
Feeling trapped in an unhealthy relationship is a predicament that many can relate to. Kaur is presenting an essential point; If something isn't benefitting you, remove that something from your life.
3. "People go."
Goosebumps. That is all.
4. "Before I've called them intelligent"
This is so important.
5. "soul mate"
This quote falls in line with a common theme of Kaur's poems; Do not be afraid to be alone.
