5 Reasons Your Parents Will Always Be The Most Important People In Your Life

They always know how to comfort you when times are rough.

When you become an adult, we all like to say that we will be able to handle it on our own. Yet life, being the uncontrollable thing it is, always throws a curveball when we least expect it. Regardless of any relationship, you have with a friend or a significant other, and whatever they try to tell you, your parents are the ones that always seem to say the right thing. It was your parents that found the ways to calm you down, make you happy, and forget about what made you so upset in the first place. They are the ones you turn to when you don’t know where else to turn, and their compassion is unalterable. Even if at times they make you crazy, they are also the ones that can keep you from going insane.

They helped instill the work ethic and determination you have to become a better person.

Your parents are probably very different from one another. They have different quirks, different ideas, and different personalities. You are the combination of the two. While you may turn towards your dad for something on one occasion, your mom may know better the next time. They are the ultimate team, and they always want to help. A homework problem, finding your career path, or even what you want to eat that day, they are ready and willing to help. They understand that making your own choices is important, but when the time comes, it is always nice having somebody to make the right decision for you.

They have shown you how to have fun, and cherish the time you have with loved ones.

Being embarrassed by one of your parents is an essential part of life. Every child will go through a time where their dad tells a terrible joke, or their mom tries to explain that they look homeless and should try dressing themselves like an adult. You have those nights where you can’t stop laughing, and those days that you just want to stay at home. There is something so comfortable, so innate, and something so important about being somewhere familiar. It relaxes you, it enlightens you, it reminds you of where you came from, and when you are surrounded by those that created those memories, it is very hard to leave.

They simply give you life.

Life does not need to be defined by the house you grew up in, the first car you drove, or the college you were sent to. We all have different beginnings, but our parents help establish our end. The simple times, the vacations, or the family meals mean so much more than the materialistic items you had. It meant so much more that you could spend the time with the people that worked so hard to give you the best life possible, and be around them on a daily basis. The conversations were so much deeper and more meaningful than anything else. No wealth could amount to the time and effort put in to being in the presence of people so important, so influential, and so loving.

Everything they do for you, many times goes without thanks.

I know that I do not say it enough. So, Mom and Dad, thank you for all that you have done and all that you will do for me in my life. You have provided the path for me to become the person I am today, and have given me the skills to be a successful person, friend, family member, student, sibling, and more. You are the reason I have reached this amazing part in my life, and there is nothing that I can put into words that will truly express my gratitude and my love for having such amazing role models.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
