When people think about joining a sorority a lot of people re just like no. Sororities have been given some seriously bad stereotypes and rumors that make some people believe that they're bad and you shouldn't join one. Well I'm here to tell you that you might actually be wrong. and give you some reasons why you should consider it:
1. You make a ton of friends
Whether you end up actually joining one of the sororities or you just go through formal recruitment, you have a chance to make lots of friends. You get to meet girls of all different personalities and majors. You get to meet people you thought you'd never meet. And lets be honest if you're an incoming freshman it can be pretty hard to make friends. Well now you have a perfect opportunity to make some. And you might just find your BFFL
2. Fun experience
Even if you are one of those people who thinks sororities are bad or something along those lines, it never really hurts to try. You might actually find out that you like it and realize that all the rumors you've heard aren't actually true. And then you could have more fun experiences if you decided to join. If you end up actually not liking it, well at least you can say you gave it a shot.
3. You just might find a home away from home
Coming to college can be a really frightening experience, especially if you're college is away from home or you moved into the dorms. You're given a lot of responsibility and sometimes you can feel really alone. Joining a sorority can be a perfect thing to keeping you active around campus and keep your mind of being home sick. Plus, you make lots of sisters that will treat you like their own family. And that's a feeling you can't replace with just anything. A sorority and sorority sisters could be just the thing you need while you're away from your family. And even if you are still with your parents it can be a new way to lengthen your family and add sisters you've always wanted
4. Leadership opportunities
Sororities give you some great opportunities. Not only do you have many sisters out there (who just might be your boss in the future), but you also get to participate in things that are great for your resume and yourself. With philanthropy and leadership positions in your sorority, you are given many opportunities to be a leader. You can be a leader in your community or in your sorority. Basically you're given lots of opportunities to become a better, stronger you. Who doesn't want some amazing leaderships to tell people about and put on your resume.
5. Academics
Whether you're not so great with your school work or school work is very important to you, you will now have people who want to help you or want help from you. If you're not doing so great in your classes, you have many sisters to help you. If your math homework isn't making any sense there will be a sister that can help you. You can have study sessions with your sisters. Because all these girls care about is success, not just for themselves but for everyone in the chapter. They will want you to be successful. No sister left behind.
If you're going to be a new freshman or a sorority has just been on your mind, just give it a shot. Theres no pain in trying and you may find that you like it. if you do like it you have the chance to make friends for life. you may just meet your future best friends, your future bridesmaids, your future anything. A sorority will build your future to look even brighter then it is
