Susan Sontag once said, "A writer, I think, is someone who pays attention to the world." Beautiful. Well said and perfectly summarized.
Writers are forgetful, yet they remember every little detail about you. The way you smile, the way your favorite perfume smells, after you wore it for a few hours, how you like your coffee and what kind of mood you are in when you listening to a specific kind of music.
Writers will forget appointments. They will forget birthday parties and anniversaries, but they will be able to tell you everything about that first moment they laid eyes on you. They will be able to tell you, what you wore and how your hair looked. They will be able to tell you, what color shirt you had on and how well it matched your pants. They will remember what you ordered at the restaurant, what you had for dinner together for the very first time. They will remember every single word you used to describe the things you loved.
Writers will forget all those simple tasks, like taking out the trash, watering the plants and ironing your favorite shirt. But they will never forget how to make you laugh. They will never forget about the things you enjoy most and the things that make you tear up.
Date a writer, and I am not just saying that, because I am one. Date a writer, because it is the best thing that will ever happen to you.
Not only do we know everything about where to find the best coffee shops, the best notebooks and the kind of pens, that will last the longest. We also know how to appreciate all the little things. We don't need much to be happy. We can turn everything into a story (even a break up) and we can write you love letters, that will most likely make you ask yourself why you never dated a writer before.
If you are still not convinced, here are five more reasons.
