In today's world, people are constantly stressed. You can't go a day without hearing someone complain about how awful their day is going. Every day there is a new story on the news about a shooting, someone killing someone else, a bad car accident caused by a drunk driver, or something of that sort.

We take life for granted when we shouldn't, so here are 5 reasons why we should make the most out of every day.

1. You woke up this morning

As simple as this sounds, you did. You woke up and you were blessed with another day. Every day, someone doesn't wake up... and that's it. Sometimes it's due to "natural causes," and sometimes it could be something as serious as cancer. So be happy that you woke up, and use that as motivation to have another great day... some people just don't get that blessing.

2. You are healthy

Something that a lot of us take for granted is health. Sure, maybe you have a cold, a cough, or just aren't feeling up to par — but it could be much worse. Instead of thinking about the little things that are wrong in life, we should look at the big picture and realize how blessed we are to be able to do what we do. Things as simple as playing sports, walking to class, and having the ability to do basically whatever we want physically.

3. Opportunity

Most of us don't realize this... but so many people in the world have great opportunity. We are capable of doing whatever we want, but when it comes down to it you must have drive. In a place as special as the United States, you can have and do almost anything you want if you put your mind to it.

4. Someone loves you

Yeah, yeah, as HARD as it is to believe this... just like Chance the Rapper says "Everybody's somebody's everything." Someone in this world loves you very much. Whether it's your mom, your dad, your grandma, your best friend, your boyfriend... whoever it is they love you.

5. Being unhappy is a waste of time

I mean seriously... it is a huge waste of time. There are times to be sad, for sure. But there is no reason in the world to be sad all the time. Too often we let things get to us, and bring us down for long periods of time. We need to realize that it just isn't worth it and that there are hundreds of reasons to be happy. Seek happiness in every aspect of your life, and you will be the best you can be.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
