Ah yes, the holiday season is back and ready to please. Just as the holiday season strikes, college students are dumping their class load for the semester and parents are excited for their return home. Of course, the holiday season has different meanings for everyone, but of all comparisons, college students and the parents of said college students break the record for most incomparable. College students are excited about the holiday season, but usually for slightly different reasons than the parents who raised them. Here are the top five reasons why college students enjoy the holiday season.
1.Sleeping in a comfortable bed at home that is not a dorm bed or a tiny apartment bed: This is probably at the top of most lists as you can also sleep for as long as you want and you can get away with it because you have the excuse that school was rough- whether it actually was or wasn't. Use it to your advantage.
2. Your parents may have not seen you in a while, so they feel the need to make sure you're nourished: This means snacks. The good kind, too. This also includes your favorite meals for nearly a month straight before they ship you back to school.
3. Alcohol just ends up in your hands and it's entirely acceptable: College is rough, right? Casual drinking with parents is one of the greatest experiences and makes the holidays both wonderful and bearable for a variety of reasons. Plus, going home usually means you get the good stuff.
4. All of your friends from different colleges come home: You know the feeling when you find a ton of awesome music and you put it all in one amazing playlist where it is easily accessible? Having all of your friends home and in one place even exceeds that feeling.5. But most importantly, winter break and the holiday season means spending time with family- both humans and the furry kind: This means you get to see all of your pets that you left behind when you left for school. You best believe you do not know the feeling of true love until you see your puppy's tail about to wiggle off of its behind when you walk through the front door. That's what the holidays are about- love, happiness, and wiggly tails.
Happy holidays, everyone. Enjoy the seasons with loved ones, furry ones, best friends, and family.
