1. We can finally move the rain gear to the back of the closet
If you are unfamiliar with Northwest weather specifically in Oregon, here is your quick science lesson for the day. On average, Eugene gets around 40 inches of rain a year. Yes, it is currently monsooning as I am writing this. The sunny and warm spring weather means more sunset hikes at Spencer’s Butte, floating the freezing Willamette River with your best friends, getting legitimate farmer tan lines at baseball and softball games and lots and lots of iced drinks from Dutch Bros. (Don’t forget to SnapChat me a pic of your pink straw!)
2. Everyone is happy
No I am not kidding. I don’t know what it is about Oregon but everyone is always happy. People seemingly come out of hibernation, laying out on campus with bathing suits and towels like it's Waikiki. I guess having beautiful weather, amazing views and the ability to go from the beach to the mountains in a few hours is pretty awesome. I concur that Oregon is truly one of the best-kept secrets of the United States.
3. The Oregon Football Spring Game
When football season is over in Eugene it’s like a piece of your life is constantly missing. Each spring the community of Eugene walks the infamous path and bridge back to Autzen to watch the Ducks preview the talents of the new team. Duck football fans are without a doubt the best in the nation and getting a taste of the upcoming season is an experience that should not be missed. Get ready to break out the BBQ's on May 2!
4. Concerts galore
Tycho. Odesza. Jason Aldean. Sammy Adams. GRiZ. Get ready for your ears to ring and whiplash from the head bobs. Local bands and familiar faces take center stage at WOW Hall and The McDonald Theater every few weeks during spring term. With a lighter schedule load spring term, you have no excuse to not go and see a concert.
5. Spring Term is what everyone's been waiting for
The snapchats are inevitable from your friends back home: 'Out for the summer!' All those semester kids think they've got the edge, but the last month of spring term tops all. Eugenians rally together to make their semester friends jealous and I have to say we are dang good at it. Pretty soon you'll be snapping back pictures of yourself posted with Puddles the Duck in the warm Eugene sun and they'll be wishing they still had a month of school at its peak! Can I get a SCO?
