5 Reasons Why Society Doesn't Agree With My Relationship

Society today tells us that having "hoes" and going out and partying all the time is the best way to live. Society is so wrong it's almost laughable. Here are a few reasons why:

1. Movie Nights

One of my all-time favorite things to do in my down time with my boyfriend is movie nights. No we don't have specific days of the week this happens on because of our hectic schedule, however, those moments we spend relaxed and engaged in the movie we decide on after twenty minutes of scrolling. It's a simple thing, and I can barely make it through a movie without falling asleep, but it's genuine time we have together and I wouldn't trade it for any night out.

2. Singing In The Car

If you aren't smiling after reading that then you probably don't know what I'm referring to. Those of you who do though, you are probably thinking of certain songs right now. Head Over Boots, Needed Me, Oui, 2 Phones, Body Like A Backroad, Picture.... I could go on and on but those are some of the biggest hits in our vehicles. We each have our certain spotlight lines to sing but it is the most fun. Our road trips are just as fun as a simple ride up to the grocery store. It's in those moments that I'm truely with my best friend and there is no place I'd rather be.

3. Video Games

I fuss at times because it may seem that's all he wants to do, but I think I enjoy it almost as much as he does. ALMOST. He's pretty much the best at 2k, in fact I've only seen him lose a couple of times. So it's pretty easy to say that I brutally take the L on multiple occasions. He knows I play for him mostly, so sometimes he swallows his pride and he lets me win. While I know what he's doing he never will actually admit it, I guess to help my ego. It's something that means so much to me, it may be weird, but the fact that we both make compromises for each other speaks volumes.

4. Doing Laundry

I can only imagine your face as you read that. Yep, laundry is more fun than partying. It's a hassle, that's for sure, but somehow it always turns out to be pretty eventful. No matter how tired he is, or how much he just really doesn't want to, he always at least offers to help me, whether by carrying the overloaded basket to the laundry room, switching loads over, or helping me fold and put away the clothes, he finds a way to help. And sometimes he does it all. Once again it seems silly, but once you're at the point where undesirable things such as laundry are inevitable, you have to learn to make the best of it.

5. Adventuring (as I call it)

Now, this is a broad term that I use to pretty much describe the miscellaneous. Enoing, shooting basketball, walking around the park, or driving around with no destination. It's time well spent. We have the purest conversations during this time, the greatest memories are made, and these things are the foundation to our relationship. It's both the playful and heartfelt times that mean the most, and adventures with my boyfriend are always a mixture of both in the best way.

So party and have hoes and I'll continue with my simple, "boring," relationship with the fullest heart and biggest smile, because I wouldn't trade it for anything.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
