Broad City follows the lives of Abbi and Ilana, two quirky and strange best friends from New York City and the bizarre shenanigans they get into.
1. It's hilarious. The creators of the show, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, are UCB veterans who specialize in improvisation and sketch comedy. This training shines through in the crude, straightforward, and bright humor displayed on the show.
2. Abbi and Ilana are relatable and admirable. Although in the show they are stoner girls who are just trying to get their crap together, in reality these women are incredible role models. They have worked hard and focused their ambition to create a show that speaks to our generation in more ways than one. Not only is the show a depiction of life for 20-something year old women trying to find their place, but they also comment on things such as race and sex in a fresh way that does not feel forced.
3. Amy Poehler is an executive producer. Amy discovered these women through their web series and UCB. I trust her judgement when it comes to quality comedy -- and most anything else.
4. Abbi and Ilana's relationship is incredible. The two women have a best-friend-over-everything mentality. As long as they have each other's support, they are invincible. I think this value placed on the power of friendship between women is really important and isn't talked about enough.
5. It's exciting. Every character brings something unique to the table and you never know what you are going to get.
Broad City is all these things and so much more! Seriously, if you don't trust me -- trust Amy Poehler.
