5 Reasons Why Netflix Originals Keep Winning

It’s no secret that over the past year – well, really, the past couple of years – there has been a reoccurring theme of Netflix originals achieving both critical acclaim and audience praise. Time and time again, there seems to be some new Netflix TV show that has garnered so much praise, thus, gaining popularity and fame through the overwhelming amount of talk among peers. This could be due from both social media and word of mouth, but, nonetheless, Netflix is obviously doing something right. Although there are many factors go into the reasons why Netflix succeeds, here are five possible reasons why they have gathered fame and love from so many.

1. More content with a larger audience

Like HBO and Showtime, Netflix is able to show what they want and how they want it, without the fear of getting hassled by the FCC, due to their subscription status. With this, Netflix has the freedom to choose the best content, no matter what the television creators had in mind. This allows content that might not be normally produced on television to be seen by audiences on a global scale. Not only does it go to the United States, but, with Netflix’s type of platform, they are able to easily show it to an even larger audience.

2. Has the best original and creative content

With shows like "Orange is the New Black," "Sense8," and "Stranger Things," Netflix has pushed the boundaries on what can be seen on television. With provocative writing, original and unique plotlines, and diverse characters, Netflix has been able to appeal to just about everyone. With comedies and dramas of every kind, Netflix has just about everything to offer. They give shows that might not survive anywhere else a chance. They invest and dedicate time to these shows, giving them the proper opportunity to create quality television shows that deserve attention.

3. Reinvented the superhero genre

Netflix and Disney’s collaboration on filming live-action Marvel television shows have increased in popularity with each show produced, and for good reason. Netflix’s new take on showing gritty and realistic versions of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist show these characters with no restraints. The action is more intense and the ability to use multiple episodes to create depth in both the heroes and the villains create a deeper connection between the show and the audience. With each show comes great writing, cinematography, and action sequences, making this one of the best investments that Netflix has made.

4. Gives series a second chance

By renewing and reviving shows like "Arrested Development," "Black Mirror," and "Gilmore Girls," Netflix has also gotten the attention of people who were once fans of these shows. Even if they are not appreciative of some Netflix originals, they can still get some closure with new episodes of famous television shows that Netflix has managed to get renewed. These are extremely smart moves with Netflix, and, though some shows were not as well received as previous seasons, there is the fact that people will still want to see their favorite characters come back once again.

5. Netflix is not afraid to go outside the norm

There definitely seems to be a general thought that Netflix originals are way too risqué to be appropriate for everyone. And, for some shows, that may be true. However, because of this, shows do not have to hold back on releasing a plotline that they might be looked down upon if they had gone somewhere else. With Netflix, shows are given more freedom than possibly anywhere else. Knowing that they have that much freedom allows an unpredictable nature of some shows, which gives an overall surprising and refreshing change to the normal television show.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
