While everyone thinks that their best friend is the 'best", I think that mine is on top of everyone else. Not only are we super close, but we have been inseparable since the age of seven.

However, I thought that would all change once we reached the fifth grade. My first best friend was moving to North Carolina, which was a 10 hour drive away from me. While I thought that her moving would be the end of the our friendship, I was mistaken. Not only did we remain friends, but we grew closer than ever over the years. Many might think that long distance relationships/friendships are impossible, but if you have a friend like mine, you will find a way to make it work. At times it can seem tough to maintain such a close bond, but we do it because...

1. Distance makes the heart grow fonder.

While this may be a popular saying, it holds the most truth. There will be times where I feel so upset because I don't have my best friend with me, but it makes it that much more sweeter when I do finally get to see her.

2. Our time together is always cherished.

While most best friends get to see each other every weekend, I get to see my best friend for one week every year. While that can be depressing, we make sure to make the most of our time. There is never a dull moment between us, and we always make the craziest memories.

3. We always have something to talk about.

As we get older, our schedules have become more hectic. With that being said, we barely have time to catch up and talk. While that may sound like torture to not be able to talk to your best friend, it just makes the friendship so much more interesting. When we finally do get to talk, we get to update each other on all of the crazy drama in our lives, and it always calls for a good laugh.

4. She knows about everyone in my life, even though she has never met them.

Any friend that I have, any friend that has wronged me, any boy that I have had a crush on, she knows all about. While she has never officially met them, she would be able to point them out in a crowd because she secretly knows everything about them.

5. It is proven that she will always be there for me.

She has gone above and beyond to make sure I know she will always be there for me. We were 10 years old, completely naive to what life had to bring us, but knew the importance of friendship at such a young age. We are 656 miles away from each other, and have both proven to each other that we will always make time for each other in our lives. If that's not love, I don't know what love is then.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
