"American Horror Story" took television by storm in 2011, releasing the first of five seasons. I recently started the series and because the seasons are only 12-13 episodes long on average, I've already managed to get through the first two seasons and started season three. To say the least, it's hard for me to go sleep at night sometimes. Even though I'm a bit of a scaredy cat and can be quite jumpy and paranoid at night after watching episodes of AHS, I strongly suggest it as show to watch. Here are 5 reasons why I think you should start watching (if you haven't already).
1. The line up of actors and actresses is phenomenal.
Lily Rabe as the demonic nun, Jessica Lange as Sister Jude, Evan Peters as Tate Langdon, Taissa Farmiga as Violet Harmon, are just a few to name. The casts of any American Horror Story season truly sells their part, making you believe they are what their script has created.
2. Each season is a completely new plot and story.
Each season is completely new and original and I love it. When the first season, Murder House, came to end, I thought that they were going to continue with it. I was a newbie to how AHS worked and when I started season two and realized it was completely differently, I was thrilled. So, of course I kept watching to see what Asylum had in store.
3. Plots are interesting to follow and it's not all gore.
As I mentioned above, the plots are completely new each time. The first season, Murder House, does have a lot of gore, as does the second season. Season two has far less and is introduced sporadically. The first season revolves around a family who moved into a house that was famous for multiple murders and deaths having taken place there. The second is about a reporter who gets locked up in the asylum for being homosexual and another man locked up for being a serial killer. What happens to everyone? Watch to find out.
4. Evan Peters.
This one's for the ladies. Yes, Evan Peters is truly a gift to our eyes. Watching him as the morbid psychopath, Tate Langdon, made question my sanity a bit because I was still oh so attracted to him, despite the fact that he hurts A LOT of people. As for the boys, I'm sure you all find Lily Rabe, Taissa Farmiga, and Emma Roberts more appealing than Evan Peters.
5. The effects and CGI.
In the background, yeah that's a man on fire. Of course they never set anyone actually on fire, but it looks so real, doesn't it? The effects and make up used on characters is compelling. It's so believably grotesque and spot on. Props to the people behind the scenes that make it all happen.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some binge watching to do, you can guess what I'll be watching.
