To have been a show about an average workplace, The Office won the hearts of all of us. The series ended in 2013, and while many of us have learned to cope by watching it over and over on Netflix, it is now reportedly being revived. While nothing in the world would make us fans happier, these are five reasons why it shouldn't make a comeback.
1. There Will Be No Steve Carrell
What's your most memorable heartbreak? Mine will always be when Michael Scott left Dunder Mifflin. Back in 2011, Michael's last episode gathered 8.4 million. The next episode showed a sharp drop, with 6.76 viewers. He was the star and heart of the show, and the people spoke. His last cameo gave us all life, but if there will be absolutely no Steve Carrell this time, is it really The Office?
2. Should Jim And Pam Come Back?
Many characters moved on with their life while some stayed at Dunder Mifflin. Where we left off, Pam put their house on the market so that Jim could go back to Athleap. They were planning on moving to Austin and start a new life with their adorable kids. So would it make sense for them to come back?
We hope all went well with their company, so if they are supposed to be regular characters on this new show, would it be because their company failed? That would be a huge bummer and totally crush the hopes we had for them during the last episodes of The Office. And if they are not going to be regulars.. will there be a new office couple?
3. It's Only Been Four Years
The Office hasn't been gone for too long and bringing it back too soon kind of ruins the nostalgic feeling we have towards it. If other shows such as The Nanny, or Friends were to come back, they would be major hits because of the fact that it's been forever. But with only four years since its finale, The Office might not make such a huge impact.
4. The Office Is Irreplaceable
Whether the sequel will be set in the same place or will be a totally new thing, and because it hasn't been too long, it will be hard to accept a new cast and new location. In our hearts, not only the characters but literally every inch of that office is sacred. It will be a weird feeling seeing new characters talk about the last show's events or bring anything up. There will never be an office romance like Jim and Pam's, a more awkward break room, and lousier office parties.
5. Just No.
Sequels to great movies or shows usually suck. The Office's finale gave us all the closure we needed and it was fair. We knew everyone's backstories and knew what each one deserved, so the finale was emotionally satisfying. Whether it will actually come back or not, I hope the producers know America has set the bar high as hell and that we will never forgive them if it sucks.
