Personally, I've always been a big fan of Harry Potter. The games, the books, the movies, the actors or actresses. It's been a pretty big obsession of mine ever since I was little and since I have never actually read all the books yet (shhhh, I'm getting there I'm a slow reader.) I thought it might be easy to debunk some worries you may have about Harry Potter or if you're just curious why you should like it. So here are 5 Reasons Why You Should Like Harry Potter:
1. MAGIC
Obviously, magic doesn't exist in real life and that's unfortunate, but all the while JK Rowling's words bring you on a magical journey so you can possibly imagine. All of the spells and the creatures that you could possibly think of exist at Hogwarts, I definitely always wait and hope that someday I'll get my letter to Hogwarts so I can learn to fly on a broom and learn potions while earning points for my house, playing Quidditch, and going to Hogsmeade with my friends. Sometimes you just look at your life and hope for that possibility of having rad magical powers while having an owl take your mail everywhere.
2. The People Behind Characters
It's heartwarming to see the words of JK Rowling come to life behind the wonderful actors and actresses that play the main people in the novels which include: Ron, Harry, and Hermione. My two personal favorite people of the group are Ron, also known as Rupert Grint as well as Hermione, also known as Emma Watson. Daniel Radcliffe plays Harry, while good actors they are also really wonderful human beings and that makes the entire series one of my favorites. For example, one time in New York City during Halloween Emma Watson saw a little boy dressed as Harry and she stopped and said, "Excuse me, are you Harry Potter?" He mumbled a "yes," and without hesitation she said "That's great, because I'm Hermione Granger and we're the best of friends," and she gave him a big hug. This just shows how wonderful these people are behind these characters.
3. JK Rowling
One of my main motivations as a writer is JK Rowling, she wrote Harry Potter at first and when she tried to publish it she had gotten turned down by 12 publishers until one decided to publish Harry Potter, which had been Bloomsbury. Now, it's one of the best selling series today even after it's been around for so many years. It just makes a writer like myself think that even though others may not understand why I write about what I do, someone, someday will look at something I've written and love it enough to publish it.
4. Houses
One of my favorite things about today is that you can be sorted into a house even as a "muggle" (which is someone who is a non-wizard or witch). Personally, I think Ravenclaw is the best house, only because that's my house. Each house shows exactly how a person could be, for example, my house is described as: a house of intelligence, creativity, wisdom, cleverness, and knowledge. Gryffindor would be; daring, brave, loyal, and courageous, etc. Hufflepuff would be described as dedication, fair play, loyalty, etc. Slytherin (has a bad rap but it's really a cool house, I think personally). is known for being cunning, prideful, resourceful, ambitious, intelligent, and determined. If you want to know what your house is for fun you should take a quiz here.
5. Why not?
Diving into the movies or even the novels make it a fun experience and if people do not like it and think it's cool to like Harry Potter that's okay. Just remember that you're cool in your own way. Also:
