Ocean City, Maryland: a vacation spot that's easy to get to, and an all around fun spot for Marylanders and outsiders alike! I love going to Ocean City every year with my family no matter what, and here's five reasons why.
1. Ocean City is different than, let's say, Myrtle Beach. Why? It is because Ocean City is not just a beach destination; it's also a place where you can ride carnival rides such as the Ferris wheel or Bumper Cars. (The Ferris Wheel is so huge! Just do not rock the carriage! That is some scary stuff on any Ferris Wheel, but it is especially scary if you are on the top of this one!)
2. Ocean City is separated from the rest of Maryland by one bridge, but once you pass that bridge into Ocean City it's like a whole new place. (Literally. It does not look like it is a part of Maryland...maybe a part of Florida.)
3. There is so much to do! Like shopping, going to dinner (Phillip's Seafood and Ember's Buffet--both places are Y-U-M-M-Y!), obviously going to the beach, or going to the under 21 Club, H20. (Personally, I have never been in there, but it seems like so much fun!)
4. There are so many ways to travel around Ocean City, whether it is by bus, car, bike or the boardwalk train. No matter which way you travel in OC, it is always really cheap! The bus is only around $2 to ride all day, I mean how can you beat that? (My family and I usually take the bus or drive a car when going somewhere, but if we're only going to be near the boardwalk all day, we usually rent a bike or take the train through the boardwalk.)
5. Although I live in Maryland, it is so fun to find different souvenirs from Ocean City to bring back home! Trust me, if you do not get it while you are there, it will more than likely be gone by next summer. I had to learn that lesson the hard way ...
I'm not sure if it is just because I'm a Marylander, but I absolutely love being at Ocean City. No matter how old I get, or if I move away, Ocean City will always be my favorite vacation spot!
