5 Reasons I Love My Roommate
Molly Sweeney

Coming to college, I was so nervous that I would get some crazy person who would steal all my stuff or stare at me while I sleep as a roommate. I heard crazy stories about horrid roommates like Rebecca (Leighton Meester) in The Roommate. I always thought, “With my luck, I’ll get some girl who has never shared a room and doesn’t understand what it’s like to live with another person.” However, when I met my roommate all those fears went away. She is a beautiful sunflower in a sunshine meadow, and these are the reasons I love her.

1. She is my confidant and personal therapist

When I need someone to complain to at the end of the day, she’s always there. She will listen and try to help me as much as I need it and try to cheer me up. And when I want to be a Debbie Downer, she lets me be miserable and just sits and watches Netflix.

2. She takes my sass

My roommate will take my sass and give it right back. It makes our room loud and obnoxious, and I love it.

3. She lets me borrow anything and everything

This includes water bottles, clothing, makeup, etc. And it’s like having another closet! Even though we aren’t the same size, we find things that work in each other’s closets.

4. She doesn’t hate my boyfriend

This is especially lucky because he is a goofball and we can be pretty disgusting if we want to be. She will deal with us being lovey dovey and be the third wheel when we go out. P.S. she's actually my girlfriend so he’s actually third wheel not her.

4. She is my best friend

She fulfills every aspect of the definition of best friend. At night when we lay on our phones, we will send each other funny things even though we are 10 feet away from each other. We will gossip and tell each other secrets all the time as if we have known each other since 1st grade. She will always be there for me and I for her, even when we go our separate ways.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
