1. I made friends…over 100, actually.
People always claim that people who join Greek life pay to have friends. This is not true at all. As cliche as this sounds, I didn’t have to like all of my sisters, I just ended up liking all of them. I mean, how many freshmen can say that they have 122 girlfriends to lean on whenever anything happens, or 122 girlfriends to watch and cry about The Bachelor with? Not many…
2. I am never bored…EVER.
Being in a sorority has given me tons of things to do at any given moment. Whether it be attending another sorority's function or just crafting for my future little, I know that I will not be like the other freshman on my floor that only do their homework and occasionally knit in the hallway when they’re feeling spontaneous (yes, this actually happened).
3. I learned the “ins-and-outs” of school much faster than other first year students.
Having so many sisters who are constantly giving you advice is a great perk. They helped me choose professors to take, classes to avoid, and days to skip going to the dining hall. As merely a freshman, I had more knowledge now about my university than some juniors simply because of all of my sisters.
4. Opportunities, opportunities, opportunities!
As a freshman, many people in the professional world do not take you as seriously as they would take someone that’s older and more experienced. However, being in a sorority has given me so many networking opportunities and chances to experience things. Other freshmen don't have that opportunity, and I now have more than enough to put onto a resume.
5. I never want to leave college.
I hear so many horror stories about students hating their college experience and wanting to transfer or even drop out. That is the complete opposite of how I feel. While I do miss my family sometimes, I have a whole other family that I can lean to who will cheer me up and help me remember what college is all about. Not to mention, the FOMO is too real whenever I go home for a weekend and see my sisters’ Snapchat stories about them having an amazing time without me.
