Five Reasons Why Dogs Are Better Friends Than People

Dogs aren't called man's (or woman's) best friend for nothing. Every dog owner out there is convinced that their fur baby is the best around - and they're right. No matter what kind of pup it is, how big or small, or old or young, dogs will always be better friends than humans, and here are five reasons why.

1. They are people magnets.

Looking to get a girl's attention, boys? Get a puppy. Seriously. Everyone loves dogs. Walking downtown with my dogs it was so hard to not get stopped by people asking to pet them. The pups love the attention, we love the attention. It's a win-win.

2. They are the best listeners.

I don't know about you guys, but my parents aren't the best listeners. Sometimes you just need to vent without someone trying to give you advice. Whenever I was upset as a kid, I could always count on my boxer to crawl up in my bed with me and make things a little bit better. They may not understand why you're crying over that older boy, or why you and your best friend are fighting, but you can always count on your pup to be there when you need to spill your feelings.

3. They are cuddle-able space heaters.

You never have to worry about being cold when you are half covered by a blanket of fur. To this day when I visit home, my pup still sleeps right next to me, or directly on top of me, in bed. Waking up nice and cozy, with a softly breathing, adorable little ball of fur next to you is always the best feeling.

4. They won't bad-mouth you to other people.

Yeah, so what, dogs can't actually talk. That's beside the point. When you would come home from school was it ever your parents or siblings that were waiting at the door excited to see you? No. It was your dog. They love you unconditionally, and luckily it is mutual.

5. They are loyal and protective.

Throughout my life I have bred and raised boxers and now we currently have a miniature toy poodle (my mom's idea). Either way, all of our dogs have always been incredibly loyal. Anytime we felt uncomfortable or threatened, our pups were by our sides, making sure everything was OK, I hate thunderstorms, and have always been afraid of thunder. During any thunderstorm, I always had a pup hiding under the covers with me. Through thick and thing and thunder, you can always count on a pup to stay right by your side.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
