Let's be real here, cats are actually the best. While I love dogs, there is just something about a cat to which I can relate. Whether it's their angry faces or dismissive attitudes, cats are just overly moody animals. Being overly moody, however, isn't a bad thing. In fact by being overly moody, it seems that cats actually have multiple personalities and moods throughout the span of a day. Besides, I am overly moody myself so I get where these animals are coming from. They don't call lions (which are in the cat family) the kings of the jungle for no reason. Here's why these majestic animals are the best.

1. They're literally the descendants of large, wild cats, which basically means they're better than you.

Like dogs who are descendants of wolves, the domestic cat is the descendant of various larger felines. As I mentioned before, the lion is known as the king (or queen) of the jungle. I, for one, find it pretty awesome that domestic cats are the descendants of these large, awesome animals known as kings and queens. It's like having royalty in your home. If you don't think that's awesome that their descendants of royalty, then watch the Lion King and get back to me.

2. Cats are independent and proud.

Cats aren't needy and will not sit around begging to be taken for a walk. They're totally up for doing their own thing, which is super nice. Yeah dogs are awesome, but they're just too clingy at times for my taste. Cats are strong, independent felines who know how to take care of themselves. When you leave your cat alone for a couple of hours you know they're going to be okay because they can handle themselves.

3. They're the perfect amount of playful.

Cats are moody, so sometimes they're playful and sometimes they're not. It's fun to play with your cat, but it's nice to know that you don't have to constantly keep them entertained. In fact, my cat spends most of her time entertaining herself with my hair bows and ignoring my presence. Give your cat some cat nip and a scratching board, and they're set to play for hours.

4. They're fun to pet.

A lot of cats are definitely lap pets, which means that you can spend hours cuddling the little ball of fur that is your cat. They're also extremely adorable when they purr, so it's definitely worth getting a cat just to hear it purr. Having a cat also gives you and excuse to lay in bed or sit in a chair for hours just so you can pet the cat. Because what type of person would interrupt a cat's happiness?

5. They're adorable.

All of the above facts lead to one undeniable fact: cats are simply adorable. Yes dogs are adorable too, but cats have that extra touch to them. Whether you get a kitten or a cat or a fat or skinny one, they're all going to be undeniably adorable. You seriously cannot go wrong with a cat.
