Recently, I have been re-watching the ever-relevant 2007 sensation Gossip Girl. While everyone knows the best part of the show, especially after season 2, is the fashion, I would like to suggest that people ignore the glitz of the fashion moments for a moment and turn to what really matters: Blair Waldorf. Though she may not be the most secure person, or the nicest, I would like to put forth that we should aspire to be her in all walks of life. From her fabulous plaid skirts and colored tights, to her unflinching domination of her minions, Blair was the definition of proud and confident. I think every girl can take a page out of her notebook. Here are five life lessons that Blair Waldorf can teach us all.
1. Even when you are falling apart it is important for you to keep your head up and be the queen that you are.

From her tumultuous relationship with her one true love Chuck (how thankful were we all when that turned out so beautifully), to her failed relationship with prince Louis, and the whole Serena, Nate, and Dan love square, Blair is no stranger to heartbreak and drama. But, no matter what Blair managed to keep her signature poise, like the true Manhattan princess.
2. No matter what, be exactly who you are. Make no apologies for it.

Blair is conniving, insensitive, a little nuts, loyal, fearless, and brilliant. She hashes out schemes, takes what she wants, and does not say sorry. People call her every name in the book, but as soon as they need help with an evil plot they come to her for help. She is who she is, and you should be to.
3. Speak your mind.

Blair tells it like it is. She does what she believes is best for her friends (sometimes at least), and tells them exactly how she feels about their poor life (and fashion) choices. When it comes to life, I firmly believe honesty is the best policy. Even if the fallout isn’t good in the short term, hold out. Either they end up thanking you later or you learn something new.
4. Don’t be afraid that the people in your life will not like you. Know that if they are worth it they will like you for exactly who you are, and if they don’t, drop them!

Just like Blair does not make apologies for her privileged upbringing and classist views, you should not apologize for being who you are. Be open to the possibility of changing your mind, but if you don’t believe what others are telling you don’t compromise. It’s better to have one person that likes you for you than a thousand that you had to change yourself for.
5. Whenever possible look and be your best, and expect the people around you will do the same.

Whether ruling the students of Constance from the MET steps, or delegating jobs to her minions at Columbia, Blair always looked her best. Look nice everyday, and if you don’t think you look nice, be confident anyway. Half of the job is being as confident as possible, and hoping that the people around you aid, not hinder that confidence.
