Sorry to break your heart, but there is no easy way to lose weight. Don't be fooled by the wraps and weight-loss pills, they are only quick fixes and can actually be damaging to your body. The quickest and easiest way to lose weight is to change your lifestyle. Most people who struggle with weight are actually living an unhealthy lifestyle; changing this is the first step to begin seeing the results you desire. Here's how to change your lifestyle and start losing weight.
1. Walk
Put down the phone and turn off Netflix, walking is a great way to start losing weight. In fact, running isn’t always necessary. A 30 minute walk — depending on your weight and the pace at which you walk — burns around 100 calories.
2. Hydrate
Headaches, bad skin and hunger are all problems caused by not drinking enough water. But did you know that drinking water actually reduces body fat? Water doesn’t only keep your body hydrated, it also helps to remove excess fat, sugar and toxins in your body. Carry around a reusable water bottle and stay hydrated!
3. Remove fast food from your diet
This may seem like a no-brainer, but it can actually be difficult when you try. Did you know that the average American eats 4.2 commercially prepared meals in one week? Not only is fast food high in fat, it is also super high in sodium! Instead of eating fast food, pack a healthy lunch.
4. No alcohol (or less alcohol)
Yes, you read that right. If you didn't know, alcohol — when not consumed in moderation — is bad for you. According to Cancer Research UK, the average adult drinks around 3,740 calories of alcohol in one sitting. College students don't do anything in moderation, so if you plan on spending the night drinking, make sure you don't skip the meal beforehand and you stay hydrated.
5. Avoid snacking
You should eat at least one snack a day. But snacking does become a problem when you are watching Netflix and you don't realize you've just eaten an entire bag of Goldfish. Next time, put down the Goldfish and pick up a bag of baby carrots.
