5 Perks Of Being A Social Butterfly

Studies show that there are over 7.4 billion people in this world. 7.4 billion people with different stories, different lives, different views, and they're all worth taking a look at. That's the perk of being a social butterfly, you get to see inside someones world, even for just a moment. You also get the perks of ...

1. You never ever allow there to be awkward silences because those are just... well, awkward

Having the ability to talk and talk and talk means that you never give the other person the chance to just stand there. If there is one thing in this world that I can't handle, it's standing face to face with someone and just drowning in silence but luckily, when you're a social person you keep the conversation going smoothly and really dive into what they're saying.

2. You make people open up and feel comfortable while doing so

From my experience, I have learned that most people aren't talkative people due to the fear of judgement. In today's society you can get buried with judgment and that prevents a lot of people from doing a lot of things, but luckily for those who are talkative, when they open up and start blabbering about who know's what, they can smash the fear of judgement and allow the other person to see that talking someones ear off isn't so socially unacceptable after all.

3. You end up meeting some of the greatest people

Putting yourself out there can benefit you in a ton of ways, but the people you encounter is probably the most beneficial. Like I said in the beginning, this world is FILLED with some incredible people with even better stories but you can't expect to hear and learn about all those stories if you don't meet the person sharing them. Don't limit yourself to only the people in your friend group.

4. It prepares you so much for the real world

Having a voice doesn't just allow you to meet some really great friends, it also prepares you for the real world with bosses and employees. In the world of meeting people and getting hired you are normally going to be going up against some pretty good competition. One great thing that can set you apart is your ability to be a sociable person who can hold a professional or personal conversation. Allow yourself to be a little more diverse than just your academic achievements.

5. It teaches you how to be a more diverse and understanding person

In life you are going to meet and come across thousands of different people in this world and with every one they are going to have different backgrounds. Meeting and interacting with these different people teaches you to look through things through a different lens. It teaches you to be patient with some who test your beliefs. It teaches you to be compassionate to situations you may have never heard of or came face to face with and it teaches you that your little bubble you're so used to being in is worth stepping out of.

Have you ever been in a big crowd and looked around and thought about all the different people surrounding you and the different stories they all hold? Maybe it's just the nosey side of me, but I find myself wanting to know every persons background and the life they have lived and the trials they have been through and the happiest day of their life and their biggest fears. Being a social butterfly means that with every new person you meet you find a new understanding of how the look at the world and how they get through all their own problems and issues and that's something we should all see. We should all try on the glasses of someone else life and see what they see because the view can change your own little world. Step outside your comfort zone, use your voice and jump inside someone else's thoughts for a conversation, you seriously have nothing to lose.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
