My hours of binge watching movies and TV shows on Nextflix has finally paid off! I bring to you 5 movies/TV shows that I think do not get the amount of publicity that they deserve.
1. iZombie
iZombie is a TV show that follows Olivia, or as her friends call her “Liv”, who has the stereotypical perfect life. She works her dream job, has wonderful friends, a dream guy as her fiancé. Then she gets invited to a boat party that kills her seemingly perfect life. The themes and plot of this show sucked me in immediately, and I kept watching to see what happened to the characters I instantly fell in love with.
2. Tucker and Dale vs. Evil
This horror movie flips the normal gore movie on its head and puts us into the perspective of the two “killers” of the movie. This movie shows that no matter what someone looks like, you can never really judge a book by its cover. It’s a movie that is better to not know much about and just expect a hilarious gore fest.
3. Frida
So many people have seen at least one of Frida Kahlo painting and notice how her style is so different from any other artist. Her art relates to her painful life which makes anyone who sees her art wonder what happened to make her paint something so emotional. This movie based on her life shows that when the going gets tough, you never get going.
4. Anthony Bourdain, parts unknown
As a broke college kid, I realize that traveling around the world will not happen for a while. Following Anthony Bourdain around the world is a wonderful way to subdue my need to travel until I can. He does a wonderful job of going to both five star restaurants and little pop up shops. He has such a wide spread and interesting view of the world. Watching this show makes you feel almost as if you are right there with him.
5. Mr. Nobody
Jared Leto stars in this roller-coaster ride of a movie. You almost have to watch this movie multiple times to really understand it, and even then you still could have missed something. Watching this movie with friends always starts amazing conversations/debates on what they believe happens. This movie is stunning in every way. While it is somewhat hard to follow, you can easily understand it by watching it again and finding clues you missed the first time.
So keyboard warriors, if any of these movies/TV shows have sparked your interest, open up Netflix and then share this article with your friends who you think will enjoy them as much as I did!
