As we near the start of fall semester, the craziness of preparation commences. So here are five websites that help soothe my crazy.
1. Slugbooks
Slugbooks is my go-to when it's time to purchase those textbooks. It compares the prices of purchasing and renting your books across up to six websites. It also keeps track of all of the books you need so you can look at all the books at once. it saves your time. You don't have to scour every website you can find or through the many pages of Google. I've gotten books for less than $3!
2. RateMyProfessor
RateMyProfessor doesn't always have the teacher you are searching for. Also, you have to use discretion considering it is all people's opinions. I usually use this website to check how often textbooks are used in the class. I can check how likely it is I will need to purchase my books before class starts or if I can wait it out until my next paycheck.
3. EasyBib
For any paper or project that requires cited sources, this website is the one. I used this website through high school. It's free unless you get all the fancy upgrades. However, it is still completely useful without the frills. It even finds information you might not know from the website link or author's name. It is really easy to use and very helpful.
4. ibotta
Ibotta is a great app! You receive money back from purchases you already make. If you compare all your receipts to the app, you can get a lot back. Just from buying milk, eggs, bread, and some produce, I got enough money back to purchase two textbooks. You can get your funds transferred into gift cards to various websites, including Amazon and American Eagle, or directly to a PayPal account. It's a free app that can earn you money.
5. Savings Catcher from Walmart
Walmart is basically my saving grace. From school supplies to late night snacks, Walmart is my go-to. For last minute purchases, Savings Catcher can help. I never have time to sit down and compare prices from various grocery stores so this allows me to make sure I am getting the lowest prices. This app compares advertised prices of your purchases from various stores and gives you back the difference.
These apps and websites are awesome websites for college students. They save our time and money. In some cases, even make us money. I swear by these apps and websites. So try them out as we start to ring in the new school year. Save your time and money because those are too valuable to waste as college students.
