5 Movies that Give Off the Wrong Impression of College
1. The Waterboy.
A 1998 classic starring everybody’s favorite funny man, Adam Sandler, tells the story of a water boy who ends up having a hidden athletic ability for football. While this movie and the ability to rise up into one of the best linebackers in college football may not be the typical experience we all had, it did teach us one important lesson “what mamma don’t know won’t hurt her”.
2. 21.
Even though it is based off of a true story, and the struggle of making ends meet while you are in college is very real, this tale of a brilliant MIT student playing blackjack and counting cards to earn tuition money is not something that happens commonly…but we all know that we wish it was that easy.
3. Legally Blonde.
A sorority girl with a fashion merchandising major attends Harvard Law School, becomes a reputable lawyer, AND gets over her ex boyfriend? Most people would agree that this is only something that exists in the movies, but hey maybe you can prove them wrong.
4. Spring Breakers.
Although it may not be about college itself, this 2013 film starring Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens gives a very outrageous portrayal of every college student’s favorite holiday, Spring Break. I don’t know about you, but drugs dealers, jail time, and James Franco are definitely not things most students have encountered on Spring Break.
5. House Bunny.
Maybe not the most well known movie on the list, but it definitely deserves a place here. As an “elderly” playboy bunny gets kicked out of the Mansion on her 27th birthday she lands a job as a housemother to a not so popular sorority on campus: The Zetas. Putting all the girls through complete makeovers of their appearance and attitudes in order to get a new pledge class, they soon begin to realize they don’t need to pretend to be something they’re not.
