With a week left in my beloved hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, I decided to cram in as much fun as I could into the week. No, I didn’t attend all of these bars during the week, I’m not that cool. Although, I am consciously go out of my way to do fun things with my friends and family before it is time to peace out of the 612. Here are five awesome bars to hit up if you are fresh out of ideas.
1. Betty Danger’s Country Club
Long story short, this is a bar that makes fun of country clubs. The entire staff wears aggressively preppy attire, it's pretty darn great. At Betty Danger's you can ride a ferris wheel, margarita in hand. If heights aren’t your thing, then play a round of mini golf. No club membership needed! Also, if you're bored one day, take a look at their website; it's hilarious.
2. Brit’s Pub
This one is a classic Minneapolis bar. If you haven’t been to Brit's Pub yet and you are at least 21, you need to fix that ASAP. They have lawn bowling on the roof and the best bootleg you’ll ever drink. If this doesn’t sell you, then maybe you should check your pulse.
3. Cowboy Jack’s
Do you enjoy watching over-served millennials attempt to ride a mechanical bull, or casually drinking with friends on a roof overlooking the beautiful Minneapolis skyline? Dumb question, of course you do. CBJ's is the place to be. This bar is western themed, hence the name, but no need to dress up. Actually, I'm going to just save you the embarrassment right now and say do NOT dress up.
4. Blarney’s
Live around Dinkytown and out of ideas of what to do on a Tuesday evening? Blarney's has a trivia night every Tuesday, so grab your friends (not your overly competitive ones, that’s just annoying) and try your luck at some trivia! Who cares if you don't know the answer to a single question, you're surrounded by friends and drinks.
5. Psycho Suzi’s
This bar has the same owner as Betty Danger’s; needless to say, it’s a blast and a half. This tiki-themed bar is anything but ordinary; you can order drinks that serve two to four people in very large tiki-themed cups. For example, Leilani’s Fire Bowl. Sounds dangerous, but hey, why not live on the edge?
Minneapolis has a fun and unique nightlife scene, and if you
live here you’re very lucky to be able to enjoy it! If you’re not as fortunate
as one of us natives, then plan a trip to visit a friend. You won’t regret it.
