5 Things From Middle School That Need to Make A Comeback

Because What's Not to Love About Our Favorite Middle School Trends

Most of the time when we look back at our middle school years, we cringe. Those were awkward years filled with braces, pimples, faking being sick to get out of gym class, and first time crushes. Even though you probably vowed to never look back on those haunting years, here's a list of 5 things we used to think were cool that should totally make a comeback.

1. Webkinz

Yeah, Webkinz still exist, but why don't we play anymore? I don't know about y'all, but some of my favorite afternoons were spent on my home computer playing Wheel of Wow and Cash Cow. I spent hours making some serious kinzcash and buying some sick new outfits and room decorations for my plush pet whose name is way more embarrassing than I'd like to admit. Speaking of kinzcash, is there any way I can transfer that into my real life bank account?

2. Silly Bandz

Please tell me I wasn't the only one who wore those rubber bands half way up my arm. Sure they cut off my circulation, but boy was it worth it. Everyone in my 7th grade classroom thought I was sooooooo cool. I felt like I could conquer the world with those silly little bands on my wrist.

3. Gauchos

They're basically fashionable sweat pants. What's not to love? Honestly you could wear those suckers anywhere. Going to the 7 o'clock movie with your best friends? Maybe doing something totally crazy like going mini golfing and getting pizza? OMG do you have a date with that cute boy from pre-algebra? Whatever the situation, you should definitely throw on a pair of gauchos. You'd turn heads and make a statement no matter where you were.

4. Lisa Frank everything

Whether it was a backpack, sticker sheet, pencil case, coloring book or brand new marker set, anything Lisa Frank was the bomb.com. On the first day of school everyone was sure to show off their Lisa Frank merchandise. Everything was covered in rainbows, cheetah print, dolphins, puppy dogs and even unicorns. If only we could bring this back... I think it'd be an absolute hit in my Brit Lit class.

5. Studying for less than 10 minutes and making an A

Last but not definitely not least. If I could bring anything back from my middle school years, this would be it. Let's be honest, it didn't matter what subject I was studying for, 10 minutes always did the trick. Now, countless hours in the silent section of the library can't even help me. Oh how I wish I could go back to the days of reading over my study guide that was just like the test once, feeling content, turning on That's So Raven, and being in bed by 9 o'clock.

If these throwbacks weren't enough, here are a few more things I think we should bring back: Kim Possible, bandana headbands, the beautiful couple that was Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, Sperry’s, Fruit by the Foot that’s actually a foot, gripz (maybe just the really cool commercials), and even plaid Bermuda shorts.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
