5 Items You Need To Pack For College

Seriously, don't forget about this

With almost a month before school starts, many students are gearing up to move into college for the first time. Moving into college for the first time can be stressful enough without adding in the extra complications that this year is sure to bring. From my own experience, I found after months of making lists, shopping for items, and packing, I still managed to forget to bring a lot of things I needed. In order to help with your packing, I have created a list of five items that I either forgot to pack or feel is super important to bring to college. So here is my list of five items you need to bring to college with you.

1. School supplies

You're probably thinking, of course, I am going to bring school supplies, but it's easier to forget then you might think. When I showed up to school, I found out I forgot to pack pencils and paper. This might not seem like a big deal since I had a laptop except one of my professors was strict on the no electronics rule. Luckily, I was able to pick some up at the local Walmart but I recommend bringing some with you to save stress.

2. A heated blanket

This item might seem a little extra; however, it is totally worth it. The dorm I lived in was always super cold and I found the blanket I brought with me was never enough. When I came back after Christmas, my mom sent me with a heated blanket and it was the best decision ever.

3. Any medications or vitamins you might need

This year it is super important to come with any medications you might need during your time at college. In the past, living in a dorm makes it super easy to get sick and you don't want to be without medication. This also is important if you don't have a car because the places near walking distance might not have what you need (or it'll be super expensive).

4. Blue light glasses

Much like the heated blanket, this is definitely not needed, although I recommend them. I started wearing blue light glasses second semester before we started doing online classes. I really love the blue light glasses for when I am working heavily on the computer in order to prevent eye strain. If you are someone who will be doing a majority of your work online, I definitely recommend getting a pair. If you are looking for a pair you can find a bunch of cute ones online, the pair I got came with two different sets off Amazon.

5. A mask

I am sure everyone is reminding you to bring a mask and most places will require you to have one on in order to even be able to move-in. Outside of move-in, you will need a mask for most activities or classes in your area. So definitely don't forget to bring one or even two of these with you.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
