For some reason, everyone feels the need to argue about every personal opinion and I’m just kind of over it (refer to my article about opinions on my page for more on that particular topic).
Everyone has an opinion. Fine. You want to voice it. Fine. You want to rudely belittle someone else’s opinion in an argument. Not fine. With that being said, here are five things I will discuss with you, but I will completely shut down the entire conversation at any mention of uneducated and self-proclaimed truths about the issues. I will not waste my breath talking about issues when you have no intention of hearing and making an effort to understand an opinion different than your own. So, without further ado:
Politics
You saw it coming. I do not care what you believe or who you are voting for. Let’s debate it, not ruin friendships and relationships over it.
Same Sex Marriage
I’m not even sure why anyone is arguing about this anymore, but, if you want to discuss it, let’s go. (I promise you though, I’m just going to ask you how it is actually impacting your personal life…)
Abortion
This one seems to be extremely sensitive and I am not going to state any sort of opinion. What I will say is that I often hear that pro choice supporters are “pro abortion” and for killing. That is 100 percent not true. No one is for abortion. They are just for having the right to choose for yourself. This is what I mean by uneducated.
Divorce
It is a personal issue and I am not sure why you would believe you have any business getting involved in that. Every divorce is different. You cannot group them all together.
Religion
Someone is right and everyone else is wrong. I will never understand why we continue to argue and even fight about something that we are not able to obtain an answer to. You don’t know until you die, so what is the purpose of arguing about who is right and who is wrong?
The above are issue that are always changing or have no clear answer. My opinion may sway or lean different directions depending on the world and current situations. There are many issues, though, that I will never back down from my opinion and most likely would never be swayed from. These include, but are not limited to, female rights and empowerment, animal rights, and Kanye West.
It turns out that were entitled to think as we please because it is a basic right of this nation. It also turns out those beliefs can be discussed openly with an understanding attitude. Finally, I am more than for the idea of learning from the opinions of others; do not ever take this article as a disbelief in that. I just think it can be done without resorting to violence, harsh criticisms, irrelevant implications, and pure hatred for another opinion.
